Good morning. Everyone be turning to 1st Peter chapter 1 going to spend most of our time there. We’re going to read.

Through several verses there will be turning to other verses but we’re going to continue in that so in that chapter, so if we do turn somewhere else keep your finger there because we’ll be coming back.

I have a simple basic sort of first principles type of lesson this morning, so

So hopefully that will be edifying to you want to acknowledge that we have visitors. I don’t think we don’t think anyone we’ve never seen before but but it’s always good to have people we don’t see all the time. So we are really thankful for you and thankful that you took the opportunity to be with us this morning.

First First Peter chapter one we’re going to talk about our salvation and how we are saved this morning to begin with. Let’s read verse 20. He’s talking about Christ who was a lamb without blemish and without spot and verse 20 says who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world but was manifest in these last times for you. And so we live in a world that has a lot of problems. There are a lot of issues.

People do a lot of bad things people hurt other people people are selfish and people and people people take advantage of other people all of the time this ends up with with loss of life and theft and robbery and and sometimes people lie and steal and cheat to get what they want and it’s not a pretty place out there at all.

And God knew that this was the way that it was going to be and so he for ordained that is he knew before the foundation of the world that Jesus Christ would come to solve all these problems. And so think of a movie or something like that where where the main characters get into a really tight situation and then someone stands up and says, I’ve got a plan that’s reassuring and everybody’s like. Oh, okay. Good. I’m glad I’m glad he’s got a plan. And so that’s what God is telling us.

In this verse he says that I knew the world was going to be a bad place. Unfortunately, that’s not what I created it for but people get to choose and so sometimes and fact

the and in fact the the the

the rule not the exception throughout all time has been that people do practice corruption and that they do sin and that they do choose to do things that are evil in the sight of God. And so even though we might all of us choose at one time or another hopefully less now than in the past to do these evil things God knew that we would do that and he loved us enough to give us a way to overcome it.

So the first thing that I want to notice about our Salvation is that there’s always been a plan and Jesus was that plan. And so the rest of the things that we talked about this morning remember that that plan was set in motion.

Before the foundation of the world and that means that God knew that each and every one of us would be here. So your salvation this morning.

Is not is not something that is vague or something. That is as or something that is that is difficult to nail down. In fact, it’s personalized just for you.

The Salvation that we have God put that in motion for you and for me, but it’s such a brilliant and amazing plan that it’s the same plan for you and for me because all of us in and we all sin in the same ways. And so God knew what he was doing whenever he created us. He knew what he was doing whenever whenever he set this plan in motion and now today

Since Jesus has come and died on the cross we have access to that which in the past people didn’t have direct access to as we’ll see in just a moment. So this plan is for us for each and every one of us and this plan will fix all of our sins every sin that you or I could possibly imagine and execute this plan will fix for us. Look at verse 13 here.

He says he says actually in verse 11. He’s and 10 11 and 12. He talks about how that before. This plan hadn’t been set in motion or this this plan had been set in motion, but it hadn’t been fully executed with Jesus dying on the cross and being resurrected again, but the the prophets and those who went before us they knew about this plan and they were they were very very excited to see what that plan might hold.

They were looking for it. They testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glory that should follow the glory that we get to see through is were and they revealed it so that we might have a record of that even today and the gospel was preached to you with the Holy Ghost and down from heaven which things the Angels desire to look into. So the even the angels didn’t have a perfect and complete picture that we have today.

day in the word of God

above all people throughout history no matter how difficult it gets here on this Earth and no matter how bad it gets. We are blessed because we have even the things that the Angels desire to look into. Look at verse 13 wherefore gird up the loins of your mind be sober and hope to the end for the grace that is brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. The first thing that I want to notice again is as things get difficult and as things get challenging

challenging on this Earth. The first thing we have to do is gird up the loins of your mind. We have to be strong not in body but in mind

Be strong in the mind and be sober.

And hope to the end for the grace that has brought to us in the revelation of Jesus Christ the revelation of Jesus Christ, which we have in the Bible.

We don’t need to be protecting our bodies. We don’t need to be saving our bodies. We need to be protecting our minds.

With hope and being sober.

And girding up with strength mental fortitude so that we can overcome the lies of the world.

of which there are many right now many turn with me to Galatians chapter 6 and verse 9

Galatians 6:9

He says here let us not be weary in well-doing for in due season. We shall reap if we faint not we shall reap if we don’t give up if we give up then it’s over and we’ve lost it we must not give up. We must not give up the things that we know that we should do.

This is going to take mental fortitude whenever things get tough. And whenever the world is telling you don’t assemble whenever the world is telling you to tempting you to lie, or to steal or to save yourself don’t give up because you will reap in the end no matter what happens.

And finally Hebrews chapter 12.

Hebrews chapter 12 beginning in verse 1

after discussing all of the people in chapter 11. He says wherefore seeing we are compass’d about with so great a cloud of witnesses. Let Witnesses let us lay aside every weight and the sin which doth so easily beset us and let us run with patience the race that is set before us looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross.

Despising the shame and is set down at the right hand of God of the Throne of God for consider him that endured such contradiction of Sinners against himself. Lest. Ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

Think about what Jesus went through Jesus was innocent and he still willingly died. Jesus counted it Joy.

to do that

because he knew the end would be so much better than the state of mankind at the time notice what he says here. Jesus endured the cross surely. We can endure a little bit of a little bit of

The looks that people will give us whenever we are different and we don’t run after them in their sins surely. We can endure the chastising of our friends. When are we tell them? No?

No, I’m not going to do that. No, I’m not going to speak those words. I’m not going to I’m not going to get drunk.

And get an abbreviated surely we can endure this. He says he says lest you be wearied and faint in your minds again, if you backslide if you go back if you give up.

The Commandments of God, then all will be lost you we have to remain faithful so back to 1st Peter chapter 1 and verse 13. Remember therefore gird up the loins of your mind. All of these other people went before you they didn’t even know the gospel. It hadn’t been given to them like it has been to us, but they stayed faithful.

We can do it too, especially now that we see the end the author and finisher that is the beginner and the end the person who finished our faith.

Verse 14 as obedient children not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance. But as he which hath called you is Holy. So be ye holy and all manner of conversation because it is written be holy for I am Holy being as obedient children children who do not question the authority of their father children who obey

Without asking why why must I do this this will be too hard for me. I don’t want to do it as obedient children.

Forgetting the things that are behind us and moving on to the things that are before us the things that God has told us to do why because we want to be Sanctified. We want to be set apart from the world.

Because the world will not enter into the rest and the Salvation that he has planned for us because he is Holy and if we want to be with him, we must be holy as he is Holy.

He will do that for us. He will make us holy and he has taught us how in his word and it is not following after the world and obeying the commands of the world that will make you holy. It is setting yourself apart for his service.

as obedient Children First Timothy four and chapter 12

1st Timothy 4 verse 12 not chapter 12

Let no man despise thy youth but be thou an example of the Believers in word in conversation in charity in spirit in faith in Purity. He’s not saying don’t let anyone despise you because you’re young he’s saying don’t give anyone a reason to look down on you and say well they’ll know better whenever they get older.

Yes, they did something foolish. Yes. They transgressed the laws of the Lord. No, they’re not being holy. But once they’ve sold their Wild Oats once they’re older they’ll know they’ll understand live in wisdom now.

And it will only increase God will only increase you as you get older don’t think someday whenever I’m older. I’ll obey the Lord with all my heart with all my soul and with all my mind.

Do it now and no one will despise you.

For Your Right doing

Yes, this means that you will have to sanctify yourself that you will be different, but that’s okay because this is the these are the things that God values.

Not the things of the world values that will lead you to destruction not only of the flesh but of the Soul as well.

God wants us to live.

And so we want to live now not someday. We don’t want to live for him. Someday. We want to live now Philippians 1

Philippians chapter 1

getting in verse 9

and this I pray that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in judgment that you may approve things that are excellent that you may be sincere and without offense until the day of Christ.

So he wants us he wants us to recognize.

That we are Servants of God and the we are Saints.

Jesus Christ

he wants us to abound in love and in knowledge and in judgement the application of knowledge if we abandon those things and if we approve things that are excellent.

Not things that are corrupt not things that are evil.

But if we participate in and if we approve things that are excellent.

Then then we can be sincere and without offense.

You’re not going to get that obeying the world. You’re not going to get that following after the world. You’re going to get trouble and heartache and destruction.

But and lies, but we can be sincere and without infinite offense until the day of Christ.

We can be found.

to be honest and to be truthful

not living a lie.

Trying to convince ourselves that were okay. We can know in our heart that God is with us.

back to 1st Peter chapter 1 continuing in verse 17

And if you call on the father who without respect of persons judgeth according to Every Man’s work past the time of your sojourning here in fear.

for as much as you know that you were not redeemed with corruptible things as silver and gold from your vain conversation received by tradition from your father’s

but with the precious blood of Christ as of a lamb without blemish and without spot in verse 17, he says call on the name of the father.

And we’ll talk about that more at the end.

But keep that in the back of your mind if you call on the name of the father.

Who without respect of persons judgeth according to Every Man’s work pass the time of your sojourning here in fear fear of what fear of something that science tells you exist, but you don’t know because God didn’t fear of people who are going to persecute you.

Fear of people who are going to persecute you because you decide to sanctify yourself and live for him.

fear of looking bad to the world

No, pass your time of sojourning here in fear of God because he will judge you he will judge you.

Not your teacher. Your teacher isn’t going to judge you. Your friends aren’t going to judge you your boss isn’t going to judge you on that day someone with Anna labcoat on TV isn’t going to judge you on that day.

The president of the United States is not going to judge you on that day.

God will did you do what God Said not what all these other men said to do. That’s why we pass our show journeying here in fear fear of God.

We were not redeemed with corruptible things the things that we see and the things that we know and we can touch on this Earth will not save us.

They tell us they know what will save us.

Avoid one another Do Not Shake Hands do not see each other forsake the assembly that will save you.

That will save you know, this is telling us these men know nothing.

Because they do not know God.

Your vain conversation received by tradition of your father’s think men the things that men have told you to do will not save you.

Oh my God.

Only God will save you.

With the precious blood of Jesus Christ as a lamb without blemish and without spot Jesus Christ is the only sacrifice the only sacrifice that will save us and because God sent his son as that sacrifice. We should fear Him and nothing else unless you’re saved and then you should really fear that judgment unless you’re not saved then you should really fear that judgement if you have not taken advantage of that.

precious blood of Christ

then you should be in Terror.

You should be in Terror.

Because only through accessing that blood of Christ. Can you be saved?

Not just on this Earth, but also in the time to come whenever God ends all things and takes those who are saved to be with him for forever.

Why why do we do this second Peter chapter 3?

But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise verse 10. This is verse 10.

And the elements shall melt with fervent Heat and the Earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Whenever people in the world tell you to go against What God Says understand that they and their Works will be burned up.

Do we want to be burned up with them?

Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved what manner of persons ought you to be in all holy conversation and godliness. The world says don’t assemble and I say I’m going to assemble because I am set apart for the service of God the world says

look at all these wonderful things that we have to give to you take them.

They will give you a long life. You will be happy and Rich and I say no because I am set apart with holy conversation and godliness looking for and Hasting unto the coming of the day of God wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved and the elements shall melt with fervent Heat.

All of this is temporary everything you can see and touch.

And here on this Earth will be gone.

knowing that

why do we pursue after the things of the flesh?

If you do live if you do die before this day comes then it’s all over with then anyway.

But if you don’t then you’re going to be here whenever all of this burns up.

And we meet him in the skies.

And it’ll all seem you’ll look back and you’ll think why did I do that? Why was I concerned with the things of the world whenever I should have been concerned with the things of God?

Why did I chase after riches and lusts?

And immortality here on this Earth.

through all the imaginations of science

whenever I should have just looked at God look to God.

Everything is going to be burned up. This is why we pass our time of our sojourning here in fear knowing that we are not redeemed with corruptible things or with the words of men.

But with the precious blood of Jesus Christ as the lamb without blemish and spot who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world was manifest in these last times for you. This world will be gone. But the one thing if nothing else that will survive is God himself because he was here before he is here now and he will be here after

And so if we want to avoid the second death and to live with him eternally in heaven.

With him and his angels then we will accept that sacrifice and not and fear. Only fear only him.

Only Christ can save us.

Only Christ and no man can be with God after a while and be guilty of sin at the same time.

Hebrews chapter 2 verses 1 through 3

You can get caught up in the things of this world. You can seek after the salvation of your flesh instead of your spirit.

You can do that. But those of you who are here this morning, you’ve heard the truth and you’ve read it for yourself in 1st Peter.

So look at what he says here in Hebrews chapter 2 beginning in verse 1. Therefore we ought to give the more Earnest heed to the things which we have heard lest at any time. We should let them slip for if the word spoken by Angels was steadfast and every transgression and Disobedience received a just recompense of reward how shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him.

and so forth

Every transgression and Disobedience will receive a just recompense of reward. That’s a fact and it’s a promise to each and every one of us.

but

that’s why God had a plan and that’s why he sent Jesus. We will not Escape. We will not Escape. If we neglect this great salvation that the Hebrews writer here is talking about in that we’re reading about from Peter.

It will not go well for us if we neglect it if we just let it sit.

If we turn away from it look away from it and look at the things of this world.

It will not go well for us why Romans 6:23 because all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and the wages of sin are death the wages of sin are death.

Those if you are guilty of if you are found guilty of sin.

Whenever God passes at judgment that we read about in verse 17, then you will not be with him. You will neglected that sis salvation, but as again, Jesus is the answer for this continued and First Peter 1 verse 21.

1st Peter 1 verse 21 who by him do believe in God

he’s talking about us.

We believe in God that raised him up from the dead and gave him glory that your Faith and Hope might be in God your Faith and Hope might be in God not mankind not in the riches and corruptible things of this Earth the things that will pass away not in your own knowledge.

But in the knowledge of God your faith your trust your obedience.

And your hope might be in God.

He raised up Jesus from the dead so we would know that he will raise us up to.

So that we might not despair as the World falls apart around us as we die.

A little bit every day as we get older and older as we become sick.

As we are harmed by others.

in sin

Our Hope might be in God the one who raised Jesus from the dead he will do it to us seeing you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the spirit unto the unfeigned love of the Brethren see that you love one another with a pure heart fervently being born again not of corruptible seed but of Incorruptible by the word of God which liveth and abideth which liveth and abideth for ever we purify our souls

By obeying the truth that the spirit gave to us.

and by loving the brethren

How do we love the brethren? We don’t have time to read through first John. It’s in there. We obey God. We obey his Commandments. We love him. We show that we love him and we love the Brethren. And so we serve one another we we do not give up the assembling of ourselves together so that we can provoke one another to love and good works. You are not loving the Brethren. If you’re not here, that’s a fact we take care of one another we fulfill one another’s needs.

We cry with one another we laugh with one another because this is our family.

Unfeigned Love Don’t fake. It don’t say I love you, but be warm don’t say I love you.

But I’m not going to assemble with you this week. Don’t say

I love you and not mean it.

with a pure heart being born again, not of corruptible seed but of Incorruptible notice how many times that idea of corruption things that will pass away things that will age and will be destroyed notice how

Many times that has come up here.

And we see that that’s a theme with Peter as we go to the close of 2nd Peter where he’s talking about. All these things will be burned up.

That’s how we know.

That God will save us for forever because he has given us something that is Incorruptible something of the Mind.

Going back to the beginning verse that we read in verse 13 something.

That has nothing to do with our bodies and the salvation of our bodies, but the salvation of the spirit and the mind.

incorruptible

You die your spirit lives on your spirit continues on.

It won’t rot away in your grave like your body will.

It is Incorruptible. And so God has told has showed us.

how to live and be born again of Incorruptible seed

By the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever. That is the word of God is truth.

As the knowledge of man comes and goes the knowledge of God will always stay the same.

People will lie to you people will fool you but God never will.

His words are true and faithful being born again.

We talked about this in verse 17. He says if you call on the father being born again, turn with me to Acts chapter 22.

We’re almost finished this morning.

Acts chapter 22

beginning in verse

14 remember at the beginning I said that there was a plan and that plan was designed just for you and where you are today in your life all of the sins that you’ve committed. God has a plan to take care of that.

God has a plan for you to serve him.

To accept his promise of an Incorruptible life through the word of God.

Verse 14 ananias said to Paul.

And he said the god of our fathers hath chosen thee.

That thou shirts know his will and see the just one and she was here the voice of his mouth.

Each of you are sitting here today listening to the word of God instead of out doing something else that you could possibly be doing.

I’m sure there are other things that the flesh would tell you are more enjoyable than sitting here and reading from a book. That’s thousands of years old.

But God has chosen you to be right here this moment to hear this and to read this these words.

And to hear the voice of his mouth the things that we are reading this morning are from his mouth.

Because he wants all of us to be saved.

More than that in verse 15 that thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou Hast seen and heard once we accept that we have to go out and share it.

And now why tarriest thou arise and be baptized and wash away thy sins calling on the name of the Lord being born again through water baptism.

Calling on the name of the Lord calling on the one who will judge us that day asking for forgiveness asking for mercy and salvation and he will give it to you because he has chosen us.

To obey him and to know him and to hear the voice of his mouth and even to be a witness unto others.

But we can’t do that. We cannot be a witness if we haven’t accepted that salvation and ask for it calling on his voice calling on his name. We can’t share it with others if we live a life of corruption and disobedience.

No, we need to be as obedient children Sanctified for his work.

And then we will be able to share it with others.

finally in verse 24 First Peter chapter 1

and 25 for All Flesh is as grass and the glory of man as the flower of grass the grass withereth and the flower thereof falleth away.

But the word of the Lord endureth forever.

And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you this morning. The gospel has been preached unto you this morning. We read from Peter and what he has to say.

He gave us a look into those things.

That men and angels have longed for for ages.

We have all of those things laid out for us this morning.

And so the question is why will you not accept it?

If you have not accepted it, there’s no excuse all of these things will be burned up all the things that you were trusting in all of the idols that you have set before God.

Your riches your family.

The knowledge of men are yourself all of those things that you have put up to block you from obeying God that you bow down to they will all be burned up. It will not exist on this day, but the word of the Lord endures forever.

the implications of that is

the implication of that is if you obey the word of the Lord you will endure forever.

The gospel is that word by which we can be saved knowing that Jesus died for us.

everything that looks so pretty right now everything that looks that you look at it and you think

It seems so real it’s not because it’s all temporary temporal. It will die. It will be burned up.

It will fall away dead. But the word of the Lord will live forever and those who call on his name will live for ever without this morning. The lesson is yours. And I pray that you would take advantage of this salvation if you have not been baptized.

We have plenty of water ready and waiting so that you might be born again through the watery grave about from the watery grave of baptism raised up.

Resurrected to live on this life to live in this life Sanctified to him. So that one day you can be resurrected for all eternity to live with him in glory. We pray that you would make that choice this morning or if you are a Christian and there’s some reason that you that you need the prayers of the church were God for forgiveness. We pray that you would also make that right while you have the opportunity before everything disappears and is burned up.

Before you delay so long that you know that you no longer have time we pray that you would do so this morning while we stand and sing.
